TR2/3/3A I'm stuck... alternator/wiring/starting/?

Note: I did cross-post this to Triumph Experience as well but I'm out of ideas...

I'll add pictures later tonight.

2 things I did:
1.) Moss Alternator replacement for the generator
2.) Wizard Radiator/Fan combo

I've removed the fan electric from consideration right now to focus on the core problem.

first:
switched from positive to negative ground.
new positive terminal to starter solenoid lead. pretty easy swap. just flipped the battery around. have verified with a battery tester (Black and Decker charging) that the battery is at full charge.

second:
generator to alternator replacement. all good here and I DID NOT replace the generator wiring ends on the alternator side (moss provides a spade + plastic box kit)

third:
i followed the direction explicitly. I've removed the replacement lucas terminal and have the following wires:
green/blue, green/yellow, and yellow --> all connected to the same terminal post (easiest way to test connections)
original ground (black) is disconnected and now off to the side and not attached to anything
yellow/red (16/18awg?) is butt-connected back to the yellow lead.

Wiring.JPG is current state.
test wiring.JPG was using a press in connector for testing.

first test:
when i FIRST tried to test, the dash ignition light came on and the starter button worked. there was a SPARK from the positive terminal. engine did not turn over.

second test:
I forgot to change the leads over on the ignition coil so, I did that, made sure all the wiring connections were solid and...no light, nothing.

I'm stumped.

any ideas how to test? I do have a Fluke 80 that I can use to test wiring though, at this point, I'm really unsure as to what I'm going to be testing...I'm stumped.

HELP!!!!I'll add pictures later tonight.

Did you switch the leads on the ammeter? I think that is polarity dependent.

I think I read on TTE that you got this problem resolved.
