    Angry Pointing out the problem

ok the issues started with the points. so my points spring snaped in two, yes the weld failed, I got the car running an old set from the bottom of my tool bag and got home.
the car (named Shaggy) ran well on the 3 hours home. well on a hot day hoping out to the shops it died on a hill. the wires under the dash hot to the touch. a buddy towed me home. ok so i put a new set of points in. ( how do i test the condencer?) but no luck no spark ok the Tach is not hopping when i'm on the key. so I have given it a fresh ground. Ive run new white wire from the key to the Coil. getting 12 volts there.
    ideas?
the tach is dodgy but it was new and bearly working. its a 72 engine so a later tach but i have the bigger cans for my 67 dash.
Im dropping the dash tommarrow. and will go through the harness.
its a sobering thought that when Motzart was my age he had been dead for 12 years.

    Re: Pointing out the problem

ok ive tested everything the only thing i can think of is tat its my Tach which wasnt working well. so I have a RVI tach brand new. so do i run the white ignition wire in and out of that then to the coil? or what i have done at the moment is i have the white ignition to the coil + then a blue back to the tach then a white and black wire to the coil - then the green down to the distributor.

ok i have tryed running it.
ive tryed the the white from the key throught the tach. and with it the blue to the plus of the coil and the black and white to the neg of the coil.
Ive tryed an tach i use to use, cheap generic thing from the auto parts store no luck.
    why is this so hard!!

    they're maddening!

to clarify - it won't start? or it starts but it won't run? or it runs but the tach doesn't?

ok i got it running the tach dosent but hey i can live with out that.
no idea what sort of voodoo. but basicly ran fresh wires every where bfresh end up the ground contacts. and things tightend down. i have 12 speed bumps between the house and anywhere. so everything gets bounced.
