Turn signal nightmare !

Well we have a 1961 mk1 bug eye , we are having a turn signal problem, so this is what is happening , first thing was they where not even lighting up , so first thing first change out the flasher relay with a new one , turn on the lights they light up besides the rear switched on the passenger side works front and rear . Switch it over too the driver's side the all the lights dim as if they are all trying to be the turn signal, and no power to the rear drivers side , that might be a bad wire or ground.

Are you using standard bulbs or LEDs? If LEDs you need the polarity correct or they won’t work. If you’re using standard bulbs I would do the following which is not difficult, but takes a little time. Since Bugeyes are almost 60 years old, remove the turn signal and brake lights and clean everything. Take a small brass/copper bore cleaning brush (.22 cal) and clean inside all of the connectors as well as the outside of the male connectors. Use some dielectric grease when you reassemble everything and you should be good for another 60 years. BTW, do one side at a time so you will always have a reference side.

X2 Clean off the Green. On my first Sprite not a single switch or lamp would function. I systematically unplugged and clean every single connection through out the car. Surprise every light worked, every gauge began working. It’s a PITA but will likely fix your problem. And get a copy of the wiring guide. Can be found on Spridget Guru web site.
