    Up 4-8-8-4

Known as the "Big Boy" largest operational steam locomotive in the world. I got a chance to see it yesterday, quite impressive, if you have a device with good sound turn the volume up.

Shows the scale, yes that is an adult standing next to the loco. Edit: Sorry, meant it to be a capital "P" not Up, UP

That is magnificent! How'd you get the chance to see it operating? What a fantastic piece of hardware and ingenuity rolled into one.

    Thanks.

Tom, the locomotive has been out and about a number of times in the West and Midwest since being restored to operational capacity this spring to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad. I saw it in Fremont Nebraska, a little town West of Omaha (where Union Pacific has its main office). You can track the loco online https://www.up.com/forms/steam-trace.cfm

I went with my son and two year old grandson, so extra special experience.
