The Novus 3 step cleaner seems to work pretty good. Idea being you start with a fairly aggressive abrasive to remove the oxidized/damaged surface, then a finer abrasive to polish the surface.

But I might be tempted to try one of the headlight restoration kits. The one I got had 3 different grades of sandpaper, plus a liquid polish and some kind of surface coating that really looked good on my headlights. Not sure how well it would work on your surrey window (might not be same plastic) but maybe worth a try.

Randall, any indication of how long the tree step process lasts. I've used polishing compound and paste wax with pretty good result but was short lived.

Not really. I'm sure it doesn't last as long as the original coating, but I haven't really paid any attention. Depends a lot, I'm sure, on local weather, whether it's stored indoors, etc.

FLAPS also sells a spray can that you can just apply if the surface isn't too bad. A fresh coating of that every year might last a long time. But I wound up junking the car I used it on, so I can't really say how long it would last either.

Sounds like Terry found the way - well done. As for modern headlights...

I did the usual multi-step kit and now I re-do my wife's Toyota every year - though I only need to do the final stage (liquid polish) to get the clear back. I believe the original headlights had a coating which delayed the yellowing & fogging but the abrasives in the kit have to remove that so you can polish the first time around.

The car is usually parked indoors but still subjected to desert sun, hence the annual touch-up. Only takes a few minutes and some masking tape.
