Yesterday, at the Essex County Airport (NJ), There was an event called "Wings and Wheels". Its held every year, and its a combined Aircraft fly-in and car show. The announcement said they souls have a Spitfire there, Also a P-51 and a Grumman Avenger.
I would love to have a picture of my TE (Elvira) with either a Spit or a Lanc. The closest Lancaster is in Ontario ans I dont think I will ever get there.
My daughter is in the Coast Gard Auxiliary and she was manning a booth there so I decided to go. I had gone last year and did win a trophy for the Best Imported car.
I still only have about 300 Miles on the Car since rebuild and I am reticent to go very far, since things seem to keep coming loose.
There were lots of Hot rods and muscle cars. There were two MGB's one from a limited run in the last year of production. An MGA in very nice condition a Red Bug-Eye and a Triumph. Also a very new Lotus. I had the only T
The classes were Cars from the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's, Import cars, Trucks, and Military Vehicles.
There were some special awards also. One of the last Tuskegee Airman was there and presented a special award. They also had a Singing group, The Victory Belle's, sort of an Andrews sisters like group who had an award.
Winners were chosen by the ballot by the general public.
Unfortunately the Spitfire was a no-show. Deep in my heart i thought it would not show. But I did get a picture with the P-51.
Last year I got one with an F4U. At least there were P-51's in the European campaign
Since last year, I have finally had the top and side curtains installed, added Disc Brakes, replaced the Water pump and radiator core, both of which were leaking and added a dual Water temperature Oil pressure Gage.
Well to cut to the climax Elvira won TWO trophies.
The best Import Car and the Victory Belle special award.
First Attachment, Elvira, and me and the P-51.
Second attachment, The Victory Belle's the Trophy and me
Third Attachment, Me, Elvira and the trophies.
PS only car to win two trophies.
