Best glue for rubber door panels?

I have held off putting in the ribbed panels in my bugeye doors because I know it is going to be trouble. Any suggestions on how to glue these in? Contact cement does not seam like a good option in such tight quarters. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks.

Clean the ribbed rubber to remove any mold release and do the same for the door. Insert the panel into the door and slide it down far enough so you have access from the top. I like Weldwood, but 3M makes a very good spray weatherstrip adhesive (contact cement) and spray it liberally from above making sure you get it on both surfaces. I use wooden dowels to keep the 2 surfaces from making contact, let dry according to the label and press together. You may have to spot glue the bottom after you finish the first round.

Rut, so put the ribbed panel in the door before any glue is applied. A careful ballet is needed here. Please Describe how dowels are used a little more.

Jim, itā€™s like the old way of installing Formica counter tops. You put wooden dowels, plastic straws, etc between the ribbed rubber and the door to let the glue ā€˜flashā€™. This allows you to move the ribbed rubber around before you press it to the door, then pull out the dowels. I originally installed mine with the doors off the car and on a table, but I didnā€™t clean off the release agent, so I got to do it again.
