I saw a previous post about the correct way to install the spring plate and locking plate but not sure about the "distance piece" the "smaller tin horse shoe shaped piece". Does it mount in the same direction as the spring plate or the lock plate? Ears up or down?:confusion:

Same as the spring plate, open end away from the handbrake lever and ears away from the backing plate.
