Help ID gearbox/bellhousing?

Hi,
I have an old Moss gearbox with a strange bellhousing and tailshaft mounting/extension. I got it from a guy who recently parted with an XK140 project, but I don't think it's 140. Closest I can figure it's from a pre-war Jaguar SS. The center and tailshaft look to be similar to one out of an AC Aceca. Asking mostly out of curiosity, I don't think it's rebuildable. Top two photos are mine, third is Aceca, last is '39 SS chassis.
If you know what this is, please let me know. Current plan is to make the bellhousing into a flowerpot.
Thanks,
Jake

There should be another number on the bell portion, like a C and four numbers.

That said, not an early 120, as they had an open bottom for clutch changing.
120 and 140 had manual mechanical clutch, not hydraulic, that one is manual mechanical.
So if it fits an XK block, 120-140. I think MK1's were hydraulic on all.

Cannot remember the bigger MK bells.

I'll check when I get home. Other than the C700-1 shown above?
The issue is that the starter recess is in a strange spot, I don't think it'd fit a standard XK block.
I had a response from another guy who thought maybe a '48 MK IV, I haven't been able to find any detailed pictures to confirm.
Thanks,
Jake

Could be, but I am not seeing a full frontal shot of the bell to determine exactly. Oblique views are hard to quantify.

I see. Odd starter placement, like for a V block to clear the bank and head. Plus what looks like an on-purpose big hole at the back of the starter bulge.

On the trans, on a flat cast pad, take sandpaper and clean it off, looking for part number/serial number. On the main cast body. Identifies where it came from.

I looked at Rover and Morgan and Jensen bells, not seeing it there.
The mechanical clutch sets a type, and two holes for two cross shafts is indicative of....something!

Right, that's what I figured, clearance for the starter pinion gear.
I found two stamped numbers on the cast iron case.

DA10177
C2071

Maybe these mean something?
Thanks for helping with this mystery.

On Jags anyway, the prefixes indicate a lot....but the DA shows up in none of the databases I have access to. Yet.
