You could just buy it from one of the usual suspects.

Al, just to confuse your search a little more, there are at least two different version of the big Healey engine paint. One is a little more yellow like the Moss Motors version and one is a little more blue/grey like the Bill Hirsch version. I used the enamel from Hirsch since it matched the original color. But I have to admit, I prefer the Moss version. Either way, only weirdo Healey buffs would know the difference.....
in the first photo the generator is Moss green and the overdrive is the original paint. The last two photos show the completed motor in the Hirsch green.

Thanks Bob, just have done. I try to support local suppliers but it seems a minefield!
Anyway , job done and its got to be better than the red it was painted....if you want to see the car in its early state see Fast and Loud season 4 episode 12... the Blue BJ8.
Thats mine now...will try and post a stream of pics to follow.

Love those pics and will try to get close to the later one...looks about correct.
Have ordered from the usual suppliers though try to support local people , hence the enquiry.
    Thanks for your help.

    Re: Engine paint

Recommendation: do an engine primer under the paint. Then clear coat after paint. I did just paint years ago and it looks ok, but when I had the rocker cover off, I repainted it and then clear coated. A real improvement.

Clausager refers to the color as "steel dust grey" - I always wondered why. The OD looks like it could be that color.

Healey Nut, I’m not 100% sure but I think the POR “Healey green” is a dark green and not the metallic lighter green.

You'll probably never make it in the used car business.

    Re: Engine paint

Healey Nut ,I've just tried it from Frost on my gearbox.
It looks like army surplus camouflage paint so I will be going over the area I've done with something more appropriate.
    Both tins going back!

I will have to crack the can I have and take a look . If its the wrong colour it will just become a good primer I guess .

Cracked the can and its not even close . Its that Morris green colour that they used on the A35/Cambridge/Somerset engines .
Oh well it will make a good base coat primer .

It's also the color they used on Sprites, so technically they're not lying when they calll it "Austin-Healey Green"
