“Asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper how he wants to be remembered, McCain responded: “He served his country and not always right. Made a lot of mistakes. Made a lot of errors, but served his country. And I hope we could add honorably.””

I sometimes agreed, I sometimes did not. But I respect the man and his service to the country. Godspeed, Senator McCain.

When I hear McCain's name, I always envision him in his whites, on crutches, at the medal ceremony with Nixon. White House flag is reported by several sources to be at full staff this morning, 8/27.

And that's dangerously close to discussing politics. So I'll just say that the reason for that is one of the reasons I admired John McCain.

Was one of the last (mostly) honest politicians out there. I didn't always agree with him but he always seemed to speak his mind and stuck to his principals, and that I could respect.

I too have tremendous respect for Sen. McCain. Like everyone else, we didn't always agree, but I have the utmost respect for him. RIP Sir.

He was among the last, if not the last, politician who followed the old adage "After 5, we're all friends".
