ok I just did the left rear wheel bearing on my 95 x300 XJ6, we got every thing resembled but we can rock the wheel back and forth on the Z axis, along the length of the car. X being the axle. it seems to be moving a lot in and out of the Dif. the other side (right) is rock steady.
ideas should i be worried?
ok the story so I need the left wheel bearing done so yesterday, a holiday, a buddy of mine put it up on a 2 post lift at his work place, A cave in a mountain where the towns swerplant is. we repacked the main bearings, beacause the part supplier sent me the same bearings in different boxes, inner and outer. much swearing later, re packed the original bearings, the fulcrum bearings one was very rusty but in knocking out the ring we broke the alumminum housing , more swearing. this morning I hoped over to the local meclaial place that dose snow plows and heavy equipment. they said no to welding the aluminium. my buddy made some calls to where he use to work on building oil rigs. so i bombed down in the Sprite and they welded up the aluminium in no time and didn't charge me!!! I drove the back way home, its like driving a roller coast, top down in the sprite. ok so i have to meet up with my friend at 6 to put the repaired hub career back in the jag. but the town has dug up the road so much by my house the sprite died at an intersection. a rock had puncture the fuel line at the pump. and a wire had popped off the Distributer !! while i was under the car getting covered with gas my boss walked up with his dughter, ill hear about that tomorrow. so I got the sprite sorted, always have a leather man, and i got to the Cave at about 6:20, an quickly popped the pivot bearing in, and got the wheel assembly re assembled.
xj needs wheel nut torqued to 300
mk2 needs transmission rebuild
mgb waiting on front claipers
sprite needs new tach, and fresh gas hoses.
I'm having a gin and tonic.
