Finding an accurate tyre pressure gauge?

Jeff was over with his Snap-on analogue tyre gauge (it read 28 psi on our test tyre), and we compared that two of the traditional metal gauges with the (plastic) rod sliding out; one digital gauge, and a bicycle tyre pump with an integrated analogue gauge. Our five gauges gave us readings falling between 24 and 28 psi. Does anyone have suggestions as to a source for an accurate gauge, and how to test tyre gauges for accuracy? Thanks, Doug

no idea, but, surely 4 lbs difference - for tires (when you aren't racing) is close enough?

It is not only a matter of accuracy, but also precision (or repeatability).

Check out summitracing.com. They have pages and pages of gauges, all types, pressure ranges, and prices, including a Milton pencil gauge for $5.97! I have the JOES Racing gauge, and it seems to work fine. No idea how you would check for accuracy - you pays your money and you takes your chances!
