TR2/3/3A my son's truck

There should be a schrader valve on the fuel manifold (I'm assuming it's a later fuel injection??) . The pump should run for 2 seconds after turning the key from off to run...if there is no pressure, then the pump is not working. The order for fuel injection troubleshooting would be:

1) Find the inertia switch and make sure it is not tripped.
2) Find the fuse and make sure it is not blown.
3) Check the power lead to the pump during the 2 second run and make sure it is getting power to the pump.

If all that checks good, then replace the pump. Most fords require that you drop the fuel tank at least partially to reach the pump at the top. It usually installs with a rubber seal and a lock ring. Once the tank is down the replacement is not that hard. If you have my luck, then you just filled the tank before the pump went out!?!

Thanks John for your note, I do have it on the other car forum “of this forum” because of the quality of the mechanics here, but out of respect I try and only post for Triumph here. The pump will run hotwired.

My son’s truck is a 97 Ford Ranger with a fuel delivery problem. The pump has 4 wires- black, red, yellow, and green. When I measure voltage at the pump I get 12 volts at the yellow with the key on. When I hook power to the red and black the pump will run. I replaced the ignition; still no joy. My thoughts are to hold the key to the start side and see if I get power on the red post and to perhaps replace the key side of the ignition. I cannot find a fuse but did find a relay and traded one over with corresponding numbers, still nothing. Any ideas?
