Transmission rear bush for drive shaft yoke - no joke!

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum, and need some help, please.
I purchased a 69 Sprite recently and had some gearbox issues.
So I took the gearbox out for a 'quick' re-build.
Everything is fine apart from the rear bushing where the propshaft yoke is located.
There was some play in the old one so I thought I should replace it (big mistake).
And had my local machine shop ream the new bush to fit the yoke.
Then once the gearbox output shaft was in place the yoke no longer fitted.
And I could see that the output shaft was a few '000 off center.
Is this a common problem?
Moss Motors tell me they sell loads of these bushes and never have any problems!

So I need some help please.
My machine shop is ready to measure the offset and use a boring tool to ream a new bush out 'off-center' to make this work, but that will be several hours work and its not cheap.

Just before I give the go-ahead to this exercise, I though I should ask you guys if I'm missing something!!

Thanks

Basil

Hi Buster and welcome to the forum! You posted your question in our :Forum Help" which is a forum for asking questions about how to navigate this forum, etc. Since you are asking a question about a specific car type, I am moving your post to our "Spridgets" forum. I will leave a "marker" post here in the Forum Help forum for a while, but your actual post is now residing in the Spridgets forum.

Basil
