TR6 Brake servo leaking

I have noticed the M/C losing fluid lately. I have found that the back of the brake servo is wet with brake fluid. I have about 1000 miles on a new M/C but have been using an unknown booster that was with the car when I bought it. I am guessing that both the M/C rear seal is leaking as well as the front seal of the booster otherwise how would brake fluid get into the booster. My thought is to replace the booster with a new one, given the unknown nature of the beast, but not sure what to do about the M/C as it was purchased from Moss several years ago but not put into service until last year. Is my thinking sound or is there an 'easy' fix by simply replacing seals?

I have had this problem on both my MGC and Rover 2000 TC. I have tried to rebuild the servo myself once and it lasted several months before failing again.
I think the best bet is the have it rebuilt professionally. Very tough to hone the servo bores without special stuff. Last time I did it the rebuild kits were over
120.00. I don't think I would rush to judgement on the MC. In my case I believe the servos failed because the air filters had never been replaced and engine heat also has a lot to do with it.
In the MGC's case I took the unusual step of locating the new boosters in the passenger foot well to keep them clean and cool.

It just occurred to me that the TR-6 may have an integral MC and booster in which case nothing I've said may apply to your case.
Probably should have thought about it before I gave advice.

Edit : Right, the TR6 has the MC and booster in one unit rather than a remote booster.

The TR6 booster has no seal to keep out brake fluid; so any brake fluid leak has to be in the MC. If you're getting fluid out the back of the booster, then likely it is half full of brake fluid. You'll want to be sure to get that cleaned out (even if you don't rebuild the booster) as conventional brake fluid is rather corrosive and the internals of the MC aren't designed to cope with it.

The MC seal kit is on sale @ TRF for $20. The process isn't too difficult (good article on the Buckeye web site), so IMO it's worth a try if the bore is good.
