So I was cleaning up the rear end of the C project and took off one of the lever shocks to scrape off the road dirt and salt buildup and low and behold when I went to test the shock to see if it was in good shape the lever arm moved very easily with no resistance at all, and a slight clicking sound during movement. I opened up the valve screw to check inside for oil and say that what little oil was in the shock was grayish black and unfortunately I saw metal shavings in the oil as well. Is the shock toast or can it be rebuilt? I can't seem to find a rebuild kit online so my guess is that there isn't one.
Since this isn't going to be a Concours car, just a pleasure vehicle I think I might convert to regular shocks. Does anyone have experience with the conversion? I can't see on any suppliers site a set of conversion shocks specifically for a C, but a B conversion set is available. Will the B set work on a C?
Thanks guys.
