Cool Engine & Transmission / Gearbox

As part of my 1965 MGB "Resurrection" project I want to have the engine, transmission, and rear end completely cleaned, disassembled, inspected, and rebuilt. The car has 54,715 original miles on, I was told when I bought the car many years ago that the transmission had a recent rebuild. The car has not ran since the early 80's. I'm doing a complete nuts and bolt rotisserie restoration.

I want the work to done by a reputable shop that either specializes in British engine and transmission machining/rebuild work or has done multiple such projects (with a satisfied customer reference list). I'm located in western Pennsylvania very close to the Ohio border and would like to find a shop within say the tri-state area within reasonable travel distance so I am able to stop in regularly and be able to respond should issues need to be decided and resolved. I'm not opposed to shipping the components to a shop beyond my criteria but my first preference is local. Larger cities in my region are Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Akron, Columbus.

Any shop recommendations, suggestions or results from similar projects would be greatly appreciated!

If you are a member of NAMGBR, once a year they publish the Mutual Aid Directory, a listing of shops and individuals who are willing to help a brother out. IIRC, the shops are listed when recommended by members.

ncbart1; There's an MG shop in New Brighton! Boffo Motors. Jim is THE go-to guy in your area for proper work.

I've known them from the late '60's, great folks!

    Dr. E,
Thanks for your response. I'm aware of Boffo Motors and Jim. Several years back I was not treated fairly and have not been back since. Jim's a decent enough guy I guess? Probably would only be my absolute last resort. No question they can handle anything regarding British sports cars and some.
