TR2/3/3A Brake Light Problem

So, a new issue has come to light....

Brake lights. They don't light when the pedal is depressed. Thought it might be the switch so I jumped the two wires together coming out of the switch and I still get nothing. I thought that this should work (works on my TR6 this way). Well, doesn't work on the TR3A.

So, I've got the wiring diagram out..looks like it goes to the fuse box. Fuse is fine.

I'm stumped now...help please.

Check the connections at the fuse box. Sometimes they get a little rust in there and don't quite make a connection.

Pulled the fuse box cover off...spade connector was on loosely. Gave it a little squeeze to tighten it and all works as it should now. Time to get it off jack stands!

Well, it's a bit of a long story....but I'll make it a shorter one....

The rear valance on the car is new. I never realized how poorly the piece was stamped around the spare tire opening. The depth is very shallow where the tire cover sits in..more than a 1/2 inch shallow. I never test fit the spare tire cover...bad idea. Of course I painted it and then tried to fit it at the very end of the resto. That's when I discovered the depth issue...so. I had to grind away the backside of the tire cover to compensate and get the cover to fit more flush.
Long story short...it could do with a repaint....thus, no stripe!
