TVR is owned by a Russian. Lotus by a Malasian company. Caterham is still independant I believe. Marcos too. Probably quite a few other niche players as well.

My personal breakline is where the company headquarters is. If the guy is Russian, but his company HQ is located in Blackpool, the TVR is still British.

If, on the other hand, his company is a Russian conglomerate based in Moscow, then that's another thing entirely. That's why I no longer consider the BMW Mini "British", or for that matter newer Land Rovers and Jaguars.

What about English Fords? Ford has been producing cars in England with little export of most models, since 1923.

I wasn't aware of that. What about the Ka, Street Ka, Mondeo, Fiesta etc... Are they made on the continent? Brazil? Mexico?
