    Transmission case ID

I just discovered that the transmission case on my October 1958 TR3A has no TS number on it and that the boss for the clutch lever arm has 8 D 60 /. stamped on it (not sure about the /.) Obviously the case is 1960 so is not original to my October 1958 car. But the transmission case has worked fine for me for the last 30 years. My question is: what is the source of the transmisson case - factory rebuit or off another car which also used this type of transmisson case? I am confused because there is no TS number on it.

    Perhaps a factory spare?

I've seen quite a few of them that lack the TS number. My belief is that the factory just didn't bother to serialize all of them. I don't know of any other car that uses the same case.

Note that if the TS number is present on a TR3 box, it's on the top of the boss on the LH side, rather than near the clutch lever.
