On my return trip from Louisville Ky on Sunday, the temperature guage on the TR6 started to rise near the H. Fearing the worse, I stopped on the interstate and checked the oil for water, nada. The car was not running rough or missing, in fact it ran like a top the entire trip. Even though the gauge was reading near the H, I could breifly lay my hand on the radiator without burning myself. I suspected that the thermostat was sticking partially open causing the temperature to elevate, so at the next rest area, I pulled the t'stat out. This did reduce the reading somewhat on the guage but not to the degree I would think.
When we got home ( btw: car ran fine with the exception of the clutch problem )I opened the hood with the car running and could still briefly lay my hand on the top of the radiator. The tempoerature seemed normal.
Is there a method by which I can test the guage and sending unit?
BTW: the Louisville show was great, over 200 cars in attendance.
