Making [tiny] progress

Got another tiny task done towards getting Penny done -- I picked up another cheap shelving unit for storing the parts I've finished restoring. So far, that's only the steering wheel.

Do have some parts coming soon from Gerard though, so I'll have a few new things to store.

Oh to have that much extra space.

Looks bigger than it is, the shop is 12' x 20'. Tight for a restoration, but it's the space I have. Looks particularly large now as there's no car in there.

Good start!

Thanks. Starting to get antsy to get the bodyshell back so I can really dive in.

The man has a plan. I like it!

Felt good to at least make some sort of progress. Also picked up a small parts washer from a friend so I'm ready to start degreasing bits and pieces.

Drew, you are seriously organized! I will now be embarrassed to show any more pictures of my (by comparison) horribly disorganized restoration. :dejection:;)

With such a small space to work in, I *have* to be organized. And given how long this is likely to take, the earlier work to box and label all the parts I took off was necessary. Memory's only so good, after all.

Yeah, I'm an organization freak, too:

wow! bomb or tornado? :D

Years ago my brother and my not yet brother in law shared an apartment and were broken into - cops came in, looked around an one cop says, "wow they really ransacked the place! we will get some great fingerprints." My brother replies, "No, this is what it is always like."

Yep, looks like my shop...parts from 3 different restorations, TR4a, Bugeye, and MGB in ziplocks with the proper label, I hope!

Thanks Rick, suddenly I feel so much better about my shed!!
It's a war zone, 12x24 with one '73 tub, an entire Arkley kit in pieces including the suspension bits, a dining room table waiting for restoration, a whole bunch of brewing stuff and a millions bits of odds and ends.
Several engines, lots and lots of parts.
Well I guess I'm not feeling a lot better, more like not feeling so bad about it I guess.

Yeah and I wish I still had memory I had before my rain got filled with other crap.

Right there with you!

The older I get, the more I realize I have to find ways to work around my flaws, as trying to just fix the flaws isn't going to happen. Hence, I organize.

I found a bit more room in the barn when the 750 Bonneville went to a new owner.
it is sooooo nice not to have to move a bike just to access my tool chests.
I still have to move one of the two LBCs to work on one without risking dinging up
the other one. Tight quarters and new paint jobs are scary.
Patience with the paint and body guys, coupled with bribes/tips, pays dividends.
I would stop by now and then to take pics and talk and always tipped for
job well done. Helped everybody get priorities in order and insured Mimi got a lot
of special attention.
:cool-new:
