Bugeye beading and rear cowling

Here's another short update on the bugeye bodywork. On the advice of people in this forum, we elected to grind out the damaged beading on the right front and glue in the replacement (rather than separating the fender from the cowling). I can't remember whose advice this was, but THANK YOU! This works so well that we will be grinding out all the beading on the car to make the filling and sanding easier and to make all the beading look the same. (the new stuff has a little ridge on the top. The old stuff either never had the ridge or it's been lost in sandblasting and other bodywork). Here is a picture of the area that has the beading ground out.

Also, the bracing under the rear cowling patch is complete and ready for the patch to be welding in. My body guy elected to add the horizontal brace in addition to the vertical brace to keep the repair solid. Here's a picture.

Thanks for the info Keith. What type glue did you use on the beading? I need to do the same repairs on my Bugeye as the PO removed all of it! Eric

Good progress there!

That's quite the patch in the rear deck. Difficult curves there -- that's what the professionals at bodywork are for!

It's just body panel adhesive, but I don't know the specifics. I texted my body guy to find out, but he is often slow to respond. (but he will eventually respond).

PO removed rear beading and all is nicely braced in and finished. My plan is to keep it simple and not replicate in rear and keep things smooth. Not correct but looks nice. I'm not trying to introduce additional work.
