12G295 head massaged a little and hardend seats.

Pertronix igntion - dizzy
HS2 carbs shorty in the air cleaner stacks.

948 .040 over. Pretty much stock with points distributor rebuilt by Jeff at Advanced, and twin HS1 carbs rebuilt by my dad in his garage. Had it out yesterday for the first time in months, and it started right up.

Too many mountains here for the 948 I'm afraid. Tried it for a while with my first Bugeye, but just couldn't cut it out here with the elevation and steep grades.

I drove this one twice this week.

It's a '73 RWA Midget that I bought as a parts car (the 1275 engine went in my racer). The tub was real solid (only 20,000 miles) and I hated to chop it up so I threw on some old fenders and an old top I had. Then brush-painted it and fitted it with the original 948 engine from my 1958 A-35. Low compression, single-carb with 35 horsepower.

I have about $300 in it total. It's a challenge to keep up with normal cars......have to plan ahead a lot. But it's fun too.

Nial...that's an impressive car for a brush paint job and $300 invested!

Mark Haynes in Colorado has an impressive BE with a hot 948. [In the mountains, Drew!]

That wheel treatment is one of my favorites. Well done.

I run a 948 in my '62 AN6. Original engine with no mods. Have a spare from a '59 AN5 in the garage "just in case"...

28,000 miles on mine now
super dependable so far but have had some odd issues
had a oil filter split that was a mess glad I bulit my alarm system on that one.
Alternator belt broke that was on me I knew. The crank pulley was to worn but at the time could not find a good one.
other than that it's an awesome flat land flyer
true it's no 1275 but heck if there was such thing as numbers matching this would be one not that it matters
its for fun not a show going trailer queen.
My first memories of a bugeye is standing on the seat hanging on to the windshield frame as my mom flew thru the streets of Veirzon France
i like the shapes on this car and the MGA a series of endless loops I feel two of the nicest looking British cars ever made.

Very nice!
the second best thing I did was the 12G295 head wouldn't think that it would make to much difference but

With the HS2 carbs oh yea they sing pretty!

My Bugeye still has the 948 and smooth case. It's bored .060 over, slight cam increase( don't know the grind or manufacturer details), ported and polished head and manifold, new hardened valves and seats, guides, springs etc., stock 1 1/8" SUs and stock exhaust manifold.
it was a lot of fun (car has been undergoing restoration since 2007). I never felt like I needed a bigger motor. I could probably get a little more out of it if I went to 1 1/4" SUs and a header (given all the work I had done on the head)

Your soooo close and looks really nice

thanks! I just need to finish bolting all the accessories on the engine, recover the dash so i can install the instruments and connect the wires, then install the wiring harness throughout the rest of the car and i should be able to fire it up! after that it's install the interior, install the windshield, and send the chrome out. but i can start road testing while the chrome is being done. having said that...i spent the entire weekend getting the yard back in shape rather than working on the Bugeye! next weekend is Mother's day....sigh.
