Suggestions for painting letters on dash knobs?

I just did some, used Testors model paint, infilled the letters and let dry for a day. Then I took a rag and paint thinner and cleaned the little bit that got outside the countersunk lettering. Looks perfect. Prior to that I put the knobs on the buffing wheel with a little Mothers

Paint with auto touch up paint...slightly off white. Sand entire knob with fine grit paper until no white shows on the flat surfaces...then spray with clear coat.

Update: swung by an art store for paint and a brush since they were closest to me. Found a paint pen which fits the grooves perfectly - as if it was made for it. Only thing is the color is WHITE as opposed to an off-white or bone white which I think would look more natural. Cost me something like $3 and change. It's called DecoColor Opaque White Paint Marker with Extra Fine tip. Will not fit the grooves on the shifter knob - too thick for that but like I said, perfect fit for the dashboard knobs.
