I think it was this (rare colour) gray one.

Nice car but that is a *lot* of money! Supply and demand I guess. ;)

That's the one. You maybe right on both counts, but think it was the colour. The car sold a little over a year ago for less than 100K.....great investment!

The Tiger has come a long way from

But seriously I think the build quality of the Sunbeams supassed the other LBCs of the era:cool:

Rick,
I was referring to the cars when they were built compared to MG and Triumph the Sunbeams were better built. the fuel leak you are showing is on a what appears to be newly rebuilt Ford motor. Just saying!
For the record I think all the LBCs are worthy of keeping on the road and should be driven as much as possible. Much more interesting than the new computerized disposable cars coming out these days.
Life is too short to drive a boring car!

Dan,

I think you're right, the Sunbeams did have a bit better build quality than the BMC stuff. Even then, 60s build quality everywhere in the world wan't the best. The clip of the car I posted is a car for sale at $129k. That fuel leak is scary to say the least. And once it's fixed, I'd think about changing the air filter as Grantura states. They are rumored to go up in flames with a carb backfire. So maybe our build quality isn't any better.

I have been at the receiving result of a air filter fire on a Ferrari. It is simple to put out if you see it happen, but on a rear engined car.....no help. It did happen on my show field a few years back....told him to keep cranking the motor and the fire was put out.
Once a car reaches silly money, everyone will be asking the same amount. As for this car, it has too many things wrong to command that sort of money.

I am a little late to chime in on this thread. I have always loved Tigers. As a kid I dreamed that maybe I could put a 289 into a Alpine and have my version of a Tiger.
Several months ago while chasing cars in the Tidewater area of Virgina, I came across what I believe was a 1967 Series II with Serial number ending in 002 or 003. He said he bought it out of the Spartanburg SC area many years ago. It was Dark Blue with the Rally Stripe under the doors. It was very solid but unrestored. It was sitting in a warehouse with about 30 other cars. I was looking at one of the 4/5 bugeyes sitting there. It was parked next to 3 Abarths so I felt like he was giving me good information about the serial number. He said usually the low serial number cars were destroyed or maybe used as mules if I remember correctly. 2 days later after seeing this Tiger, I went to look at several more bugeyes and sitting in one of his garages was a really nice Tiger. Lots of the Factory Added LAT options were on the car. The owner was late 50's early 60's and had known the car since he was a kid in High School. I see Tigers on Bring A Trailer more frequently than I would have expected but I was shocked to see 2 in the course of a week.
