General Tech » Re: Bleeding Brakes—Venturi/Compressor

One alternative is to wrap the bleeder threads with Teflon tape to better seal against the ingress of air as you vacuum bleed.

I have used the venturi sucking unit from HF (looks like the Griots...

John's looks like steel to me, possibly cad plated. The other one is presented as 'New Smiths Industries Limited' so possibly new, not NOS. But even that one looks to me to have a steel nut with...

Possibly an eye-watering price but I think that is the market now.

I bought a nice one (but not as nice as yours) a few years ago that was poorly listed on eBay (didn't show up in the usual TR...
  5. TR2/3/3A » Re: I've been wrong for 60+ years: it looks like it's NOT a 1959

Being that close to the end of the year I suppose it is whatever you want it to be.

My TR4 was registered as a 1965 but since I could prove (Piggott, build cert) that it was built in September 64...

TR2/3/3A » Re: Wheels, tires, hubs and axles

Since you have a 57 you may find that a 165/80 will not fit in the spare compartment... I went with a 'space saver' spare.

Separating the rear hub is not a trivial task - you will want to read up...

Can happen with any vendor but if you were ordering from Pennsylvania you may want to look at the back-story there.

  11. TR2/3/3A » Re: TR3 pinion seal - leaked from sitting will it reseal?

    I expect you mean 1.8 U.S. pints.

I always fill till it flows out but best not to overfill (can happen if the rear is elevated) as the extra may get past the seals in the axles.

Never saw one with a wiper - that is strange.

I believe the design was such that you could even install the windscreen with the aeroscreens still in place.

That is an original aeroscreen - early cars came with mounting holes for them.

Do not scrap it, definitely worth $omething to $omeone.

My distributor caps (and my coils) are all the old stuff bought mostly on eBay. If you are not in a hurry you can do a bit of bottom-feeding and pick good used or even NOS at a reasonable price.

I am not sure where you look to see light through the stock black can AC filter - but it is hard to imagine a less restrictive device. Like you say - a bug catcher... and just big bugs at that.
