    TR2/3/3A Re: Lug Nut use

Or as my English teacher Miss Handley would have said: 'You can but you may not'.

Used nuts are pretty easy to find worked well for me when I needed some to carry around (still had a disc spare...

General TR Re: British Heritage Certificate

    I agree but...

That seems to be the opposite of what I would expect. The EB number is the Mulliners number ('body in white' number if you will) hence it gets painted when the body is painted....

General TR Re: British Heritage Certificate

When I sold my TR3A on BaT the Heritage Certificate was an item featured in the listing. I can't say that it added value (it really shouldn't) but perhaps it added verisimilitude to the listing. ...

General Tech Re: High altitude adjustments

I routinely drive between Tucson (2722') and Mt Lemmon (9157') - w/o bothering to adjust anything. Same with occasional Colorado drive that went above 11000'. I will say that if your car is running...

This frequently pops up on the J-L Forum. Since I have no direct experience (I put in a 3.07 instead) I will point you to a couple of threads from earlier this month:

    TR2/3/3A Re: Distributor Caps

My distributor caps (and my coils) are all the old stuff bought mostly on eBay. If you are not in a hurry you can do a bit of bottom-feeding and pick good used or even NOS at a reasonable price.
  7. TR2/3/3A Re: TR3 clutch release bearing... from Home Depot?

What? No radial tires? And you call yourself a home improvement store?
  8. TR2/3/3A Re: Stock air cleaners and aftermarket air cleaners.

Foam koozies can add a bit of filtration to the stock filters.

  9. TR2/3/3A Re: Stock air cleaners and aftermarket air cleaners.

I am not sure where you look to see light through the stock black can AC filter - but it is hard to imagine a less restrictive device. Like you say - a bug catcher... and just big bugs at that.

    TR2/3/3A Re: Starter or Solenoid

The 'click' would suggest that the solenoid is most likely working fine & the problem lies elsewhere... but not necessarily the starter.

I would check that the big cable connections are all clean...

TR6 Re: Frosted rear plastic window

Sounds like Terry found the way - well done. As for modern headlights...

I did the usual multi-step kit and now I re-do my wife's Toyota every year - though I only need to do the final stage...

Last time I had one of those I started pulling the stuff out until I got hold of this:

    TR6 Re: No oil pressure

Yes, that can be the longest 45 seconds of your life... cranking the engine and watching the gauge, waiting (and hoping) for oil pressure to show up.

    TR2/3/3A Re: Reproduction TR3A Grille

I love mountan pass photos (and photos with Fred). So if Fred's diff had leaked it would go to the Atlantic and if the radiator leaked it was bound for the Pacific?

Spitfire Re: 1980 spit.. 34000 miles unbelievable

So you finally got it in but had to use a " drive to get it to go? If something was wrong in there (and I suspect there was) I don't think this fixed it. Next oil change may reveal more info.

TR2/3/3A Re: Throttle linkage cross rod

Yeah, mine was bent - still worked okay. As Randall notes... probably occurred during and engine pull of a gearbox removal (engine raised too much).

  21. TR2/3/3A Re: Loss of Power - ride of shame on flatbed to the house

I have given up on new coils, the ones I am using now came off of eBay and are from the 60s - quite reliable. Plus they are the Buck Rogers inspired design Lucas used for the classic Sports coils.

Do you know specifically what failed? If the casting and bore are sound it seems you could just replace what failed plus new seals while you're in there.
