Re: What's the Recommended REAR END oil gl Grade?

Probably the EP additives are helpful in the rear end gears. Since neither Nock nor John (of GearBoxVideos) have any problem with GL-5 and yellow metals, I plan on continuing using it in my diff....

    Motor mount replacements

I replaced mine with AHspares', which are supposedly made out of heavier material. Fitting the 4-bolt bases without cross-threading is a fiddle. There are some shims underneath. I reused my original...

    Re: 100 vs 100/6

As the owner of a 100-6 a couple of thoughts:

    --a lot cheaper than a 100
--non-Whitworth fasteners. If you're not concours, US nuts and bolts work fine.

Suggest you go for a BN6 two-seater as...

I used similar in order to raise the engine 1/4" on the left side for the rear carb on the DMD manifold to clear the steering column. (Carbs...

Re: What's the Recommended REAR END oil gl Grade?

    Ditto:
The transmission expert at GearBoxVideos agrees with David Nock in that in rebuilding thousands of transmissions he has never seen any actual damage to yellow metals from GL-5. He says...

Re: What's the Recommended REAR END oil gl Grade?

You'll have a tough time finding straight 90w. Amazon has a few used in marine and other special applications. Red Line MT-90 is a great GL4 for the Toyota and other non-Healey manual transmissions....

    Re: BJ8 heater blower?

I added a Moss replacement motor/squirrel cage unit in March 2016. Was able to maximize the force by incorporating a relay. The stock wire from the switch energizes the relay, rather than powering...

    Re: BJ8 heater blower?

For easier installation, suggest using u-nuts on the feet; bolts upward thru wheelwell. IMO this makes the install much easier.

I had a dry rocker arm that made an off-and-on very loud rattling or rapping sound.

This manual-transmission-only channel has interesting info (along with semi-recommendations) on the two types at the end of this video:

    Rob,
You live near Absolutely British in Santa Maria - check with him (Eric Grunden).

PS - IIRC Randy Forbes can do this when he gets back online.

Re: What's the Recommended REAR END oil gl Grade?

You have to remove the axle shafts to withdraw the pumpkin.

This looks like a good process:

    Bob,
When I bought my BJ8 spindles, the kingpin bushes were already honed to size. I only replaced and honed my steering box bushes. My idler has been good except for adjusting the vertical play by...

    Re: Steering Idler Noise

Don't believe the idler is the same kind of situation as the steering, where you've got centrifugal forces.

If one is going to use a zerk, consider pumping in Corn Head grease - that way you'd get...

What about your downpipes or muffler hitting the outrigger or maybe one of their mounts is loose.

That would be a good one to convert to an article for healey6.com.
Also good for converting to bolt-on hubs.

Re: Intermotor or Lucas Sport Coil ?

I used solid (metal stranded) wires for many years with no problems on my previous Pertronix I setup. On their site, IIRC, they now recommend against that. Pertronix II requires modern wires.

Do an eBay search for "10-32 barb fitting". Also search google images for same thing.
