    Jim
    In the mail. USPS priority.
I just scrapped the accumulated crud off the pieces so you will need to clean them properly.
Also, remember that torque specs are with a moving bolt/nut. If static...

    Re: BJ8 Adjusting valve clearance

Exactly what glemon said. This is not precision work. There is plenty of leeway on the cam to do the valve adjustment.
And not to complicate matters, if one set of valves is at overlap, about...

    Jim
The bolts are loose, I just need to clean and package them.

    Re: Intake manifold drain pipes

Why are we talking about American V8 manifolds. The configuration is nothing like the AH3000. The discussion should be on American straight 6 manifolds and other Britixh cars with straight 4...

Re: Grinding when shifting into first

2 1/2 Pints. Just a little over a quart. Been adding a straight US Quart to trans since forever with no issues.
  8. Re: Spun wheel bearing traced to gasket thickness

There are several threads on the gasket thickness issue on the Spridget board. Similar bearing/hub design.
Consensus is the same, current aftermarket paper gaskets are too thick to seal the axle to...

Re: Grinding when shifting into first

Not normal at all. At Idle and not moving you should go into first easily. Never have done the second gear thing.
Yes, check trans oil but it is difficult to do. Best just drain and replace....
  11. Re: Help with 60 Bugeye - major drivetrain issue...

Glad you have it back together and back on the road.
As stated before 1st gear is non synchro and is designed for you to come to a complete stop before putting in gear. It is possible with a lot of...
  12. Re: The Panhard Rod is Supposed to be Straight, Right?

5/8 inch sounds a bit small. If it was me I would go with at least 7/8 diameter.
Bars are available with pretapped ends from many circle track shops at a reasonable price.
  13. Re: The Panhard Rod is Supposed to be Straight, Right?

The thig that makes the bar strong is the material the diameter and wall thickness.
If you want to keep the same diameter go with a thicker wall tube or to one of the stronger chrome molly steels....

  18. Re: Help with 60 Bugeye - major drivetrain issue...

    Jim
I doubt there would be any damage to the mating faces of the diff to the axle. Everything that happened was inside and the faces would not have been exposed.
The question is what caused the...

Re: DIY Extension for Clutch Bleeding

SS bolts and nuts do not "slide" the same as mild steel, so you cannot use the same torque values. Also after awhile SS tends to gall and will be difficult to unbolt.
This is a big issue in the...

  21. Re: Help with 60 Bugeye - major drivetrain issue...

I ran my 948 at highway speecs with the 4.22 for years with no issues. Several runs from NY-Baltimore way back when I was younger. Even withthe 1275 I prefer the 4.22 due to the back road driving...
  22. Re: Help with 60 Bugeye - major drivetrain issue...

I used a piece of 1/4" rod, heavy hammer and vise plus a 1/4 20 nut die. Getting the correct width was a bit of a pain. I made one as a backup when working on springs incase I broke the original...
  23. Re: Help with 60 Bugeye - major drivetrain issue...

Bugeye guy gets $25 for the Ubolt as it is the only source unless you make your own. It is a very unique size and even if you find the correct width you would most likely need to add threads....
