    Wanted Re: Smooth case trnny

I've been running rib case gears in a smooth case transmission since the late '80s.

    Re: Bugeye generator color

The original was engine green. If you want to do it correct, you put it on the engine with the fan belt in place, before painting.

    Re: New 67 Elf

My Bugeye was my first car and daily driver from 83-88. It was all around UC, Claremont, Mira Mesa, and Mesa college. After that it was off the road for a long time. It spent a few years (in parts)...

    Re: New 67 Elf

I'm still working on BUDYELF, and I have some questions for the Mini crowd. Budy is currently running a extremely anemic 998, with low compression across all 4 cylinders (~80-90).

    I have sourced...

    Re: New 67 Elf

The Elf has been fun. I've been chipping away at issues over the last few weeks in my inordinate spare time. I've freshened up the brakes with new springs, shoes, lines, and a couple of wheel...

Re: Are there any of us with 948 builds left?

948 .040 over. Pretty much stock with points distributor rebuilt by Jeff at Advanced, and twin HS1 carbs rebuilt by my dad in his garage. Had it out yesterday for the first time in months, and it...

It is a Rat Fink. I had to remove it because reverse and 4th are both below my knee. Previous owner had the California ELFINK license plate (according to her). Car was originally from New Zealand....

    New 67 Elf

Here are some pictures of the Elf I picked up Tuesday. I haven't had any time to mess with it yet. It was advertised as a "nice driver". It's pretty clean for it's age, and I don't intend to do...

    Re: Tyres for Mini Cooper

It sounds like the 165/70/10 will fit, and I can get them local for not too much.
    Thanks,

    Re: Tyres for Mini Cooper

How about 10"? I just bought a nice Riley Elf driver with 9 year old tires (145/80/10). The previous owner bought tires at Tire Rack, but they don't have this size in stock (only MiniMania$$). Any...

Re: Is this what I think it is?

It's a nice car, but the thing that hits me first is that it is the wrong color red, and the interior is wrong. Red Bugeyes were a little darker red, and the interior should be red with white...
  14. Re: To Restore, or not to Restore, that's the question

That's me driving that car, and as soon as I can find an extra garage space, I'm going to Arizona to steal it. He probably won't call the cops on me since we have the same last name and all.

Re: Smooth case transmission help please

I put ribcase internals in a smooth case about 25 years ago, but can't recall the specifics. As I recall, it was not very involved. That is what is running in my car right now (when I can find time...
  16. Wire wheel half shafts and bare 1275 block Houston

I have 4 wire wheel half shafts, and a bare 1275 block (no main caps, rods...). They are available for pick up in Houston (near the medical center) this week. We're moving, and I don't have time to...

    Re: bugeye pitfalls

You're right, lousy pictures. I suspect the camera is off. I have the correct red on my bugeye, and some cameras make it look pink. 4500 looks like a pretty good deal for that car.

Re: How do I fill Bugeye steering rack?

Use Cornhead grease, from John Deere. About $3.5 a tube, and you can order it online if there is not a supplier near you. https://www.britishcarforum.com/bcforum/u...rack#Post250753

    Re: Bugeye handling questions

The shocks, especially the front shocks, are critical. Contact Peter C at World Wide to get them rebuilt. You will not be sorry.

Re: Help with carb hook up for 948 Bugeye

There are at least three of us working on that goal. It is rare to see one at a show approaching stock.

Re: Bugeye wooden slats for seats?

Above the carpet, and only on the drivers side. They help the adjustment mechanism clear, and would not work too well under carpet.

Re: Fiat engine height in Spridget

There was a Bugeye project with a fiat twin cam and a 5 speed on Ebay not too long ago. You could try and ask the seller.

  24. Re: When is the best time to install an antisway bar?

Thanks Kevin. I've looked and there are no holes. Maybe there is enough meat there to drill and tap. I was hoping someone who has done would chime in.

It must be raining in more places than...
  25. Re: When is the best time to install an antisway bar?

I would also like that template. I sent you a PM with my email address.

I have a question about mounting the sway-bar at the frame rails. What have people done to mount them on cars that did not...
