TR2/3/3A » Re: Putting windshield back together

I’m pretty sure the 3 stanchion screws are Witworth...the big 3 should stock them. If you are making the pieces yourself, then tap the countersunk screw to a standard size. You will need a witworth...

TR2/3/3A » Re: The chrome beading is rubbing on the hood

It’s a beautiful fit...a shame it rubs. Maybe some vinyl tape on the trim to protect the bonnet paint, and then live with the rubbing? I’m afraid anything you do is going to harm the beautiful...

TR2/3/3A » Re: location of the coolant drains on a tr3a

Lower right side and rear of the radiator... and low on the block below the rear carb, but just above the starter. Unless you drain it regularly, the engine tap will likely be clogged.

TR2/3/3A » Re: door blistering with rust

I always painted the entire panel, but I have noticed that modern body shops prefer to feather the spray over just a partial panel. I figure it goes back to the fact older paints faded badly, and...

Nice! Isn't it great how in one paint session all the pain of the body work goes away?

TR2/3/3A » Re: how do i fix this hood line?

    That's not too bad!

Bob is correct. Make sure the spring is assembled preoperly so it isn't pressing abnormally hard against the bonnet, and the rod is hitting in the slot in the bonnet.

    The...

    TR2/3/3A » Re: TR3A Chassis restoration

I intentionally didn't provide a means of measuring the alignment of the upper and lower control arms...as it is going to take some real ingenuity to do it! I merely point out that they absolutely...

    TR2/3/3A » Re: Windshield difficulties

Something I mean to get are left handed drill bits, for just your situation. As you drill out the old bolt there is a much more likely chance of it unscrewing itself if you are drilling CCW. I have...

    TR2/3/3A » Re: TR3A Chassis restoration

Like Tom says, that pin is the single hardest part to replace on a TR3. I would try to bend it back as you plan first, as it would save several weeks labor if the pin has to be replaced. On...

TR2/3/3A » Re: wood next to the door on a tr3

Funny, Steve! We should put oakum all around the cockpit. It's definitely wood, but it's always a weird, twisted, wood.

TR2/3/3A » Re: Rear fender stays: black or body color?

Aaaaawww...now I’m going to have to repaint mine body color. They’re black, but I think you guys are right. Body color makes sense in Triumph logic.

Edit...checked and mine are body color. ...

That happens sometimes. There is still a satisfaction knowing you did it all yourself! I would have done the carpet myself, but had to draw the line somewhere.

TR2/3/3A » Re: Dang! Clutch slipping in 5th

The Triumph flywheel is designed to expel any oil leakage from the tranny to the front of the flywheel...away from the clutch assembly. It has drilling’s through the wheel to accomplish that feat. ...

TR2/3/3A » Re: door seal windlace

In my TR3A it was like a very thick cardboard. My Skinner kit for the TR2 came with 1/4” plywood as a backer. It also holds the edge of the carpet too, although that’s not shown in the pic.

TR2/3/3A » Re: Dang! Clutch slipping in 5th

If the MC rod was adjusted too tight, it can maintain pressure in the line, even after the pedal is released. I’ll cross my finger that is the issue!?!

TR2/3/3A » Re: Dang! Clutch slipping in 5th

Aaah, not the stock linkages. Then there isn't much you can do without "digging in". The likely issues are:

    1) throw out assembly pressing on the clutch. (bleeding is all you could try without...

TR2/3/3A » Re: Dang! Clutch slipping in 5th

It sounds like the adjustment is a definite possibility. Remember, as the disc face wears, the clutch fingers lift and the adjustment tightens. In other words, any clearance you had has reduced...
