Wanted Re: TR4 L Fenders Steering wheel hub

Two weeks and not so much as a "I'll think about it". Why do people do that, I'll never get that hour back.

Re: It's enough to drive ya to drink....

Different rubber compound. I too look for the equivalent size in mine or others I help with.
Even found the cups for the Roadster wheel cylinders.
    Good job.

Wanted Re: TR4 L Fenders Steering wheel hub

Just checked and the tonneau is gone, I know where and he said "Oh, didn't think you were going to use it". Wonderful. I did find the boot cover, not in bad shape, but the ribbing at the front is...

Wanted Re: TR4 L Fenders Steering wheel hub

I think I can find you a rear fender that is in great shape, but not cheap $300, a tach and possible a tonneau cover, those I will have to find, but thinking $75 on the tach, will make sure it runs...

TR4/4A Ľ Re: Can't get rear extension off. Help!

You are right, that bearing and the extension are going to come as one off the output shaft.
If all else fails and you are worried about damage, take it to a machine shop. They will press it off...
  9. TR2/3/3A Ľ Re: Recondition old wire wheels or buy new?

Dave, it's not just the spokes that get loose, the splines get sharp and only a complete rebuild with new center hubs can make them safe and that's if you know what you are doing. Check the price of...

TR6 Ľ Re: Rear Oil Seal?

If it's about 1/8 inch across, that is the only thing in there it could be. Possible it was done on installation. Not centered when pushed over the crank end.
  11. TR5/TR250 Ľ Re: Wiper wheel box knurled end not tight on arm

Bob, wrap the end with a couple of loops of aluminum foil, leave some overhang on the top so when you push it down it will not just shove off.
Hope you don't have to drive too much in the rain,...
  12. Re: 2011 Aston Martin V8 Vantage N420 Goes Full Lockdown

Reid, as info, the XK8 Jaguar has the main ECI and several control boxes in two compartments on the back of the firewall with plastic covers over them.
Here is the kicker, at the very bottom of...

GT6 Ľ Re: Oil Pump replacement

Do know you will have to turn the pan to clear the screen. It sticks out pretty good and there is a slot it will have to come out through.
That may be the problem you are having now.
    Hope you...

    Re: Ford pre-crossflow valve train

Did you look at the Spitfire, I think the shaft is 1/2 on both and the rockers have some right left to them.
If you are doing the engine, pay close attention to the front cam bearing, be sure to...

Spitfire Ľ Re: Runs, but not well

To start, check for vacuum leaks in the manifold, intake and exhaust. Spray carb cleaner around the areas the manifolds join and lessen for the engine to speed up.
  16. GT6 Ľ Re: Zero acceleration power / Carís RPMs surge when you get in it.

Doug, in her last post, she said the needle was in the middle when she put the old regulator in, so that problem is solved, we hope.
Now the distributor may be the problem. Check the timing, loosen...

    TR6 Ľ Re: Front brakes won't release

Jack up the front end and turn both wheels, that will tell you if one is dragging. That is the one with the cocked piston, it needs new seals and possible new pistons.
    Just keep pushing the pedal...
  18. GT6 Ľ Re: Zero acceleration power / Carís RPMs surge when you get in it.

You have the indication of bad readings on the gauge. The sending unit at the front of the thermostat housing is really a grounding unit, it varies ground contact, The light green wire on the gauge...
  19. GT6 Ľ Re: Zero acceleration power / Carís RPMs surge when you get in it.

Umm, can you se the results of over heating? Is water flowing out of the top of the radiator? Into the bottle below???
It could be a bad sending unit or a bad gauge, they are both easy and cheap to...

TR4/4A Ľ Re: No Marks on Timing Gear

Instead of a mark on the fan pulley, look for a hole. I have seen a few that that was the timing TDC at the arrow.
  21. GT6 Ľ Re: Zero acceleration power / Carís RPMs surge when you get in it.

Thanks for the update and you are heading in the right direction.
New thermostat should help, most run the 186 degrees or close to it. Good chance the shop didn't fill it up and you were running...

General TR Ľ Re: TR250 Steering Wheel Options

That is the late wheel 78 to 80, the two prongs are the signal light counsel. Splines are different.
Be a nice one for some to restore, plus it has the hub which is not always available.
  24. GT6 Ľ Re: Zero acceleration power / Carís RPMs surge when you get in it.

Ummm, Did some work on the carbs and getting the linkage where I could get full throttle. not a easy task with cable operated pedal. What I did discover was a reason I couldn't get the idle down...
