    Thanks for the tip Larry. Cleaning the center hole on the pulley allowed it to go on just enough so i could get bolts started. I replaced the bypass hose, but it leaked while refilling the radiator....

    part number is correct, see pic. I can only measure with a ruler and the diam appears to be about the same as the pump I removed, +0.5 mm. My local British garage suggested gently sanding the flange

    It took a 1/4in NPT tap to get it out. It had more taper than the other taps that were available. I had to screw it in a couple of turns or it pulled loose. It took a lot of effort to work it out....

    neither the tapered paint stick or telescoping magnet worked. The magnet just gets longer so the plunger doesn't move freely, the reason for the replacement. maybe an ice pick will get it free
