    Re: Today's Sanitation Alert

The moral being to wash your food before eating it (especially if it doesn't get cooked thoroughly). Manure makes great fertilizer, very popular with the "organic" crowd, but anything fertilized...

    TR4/4A Re: Wire wheel question

I wasn't really trying to talk you out of it; just wanted to make the point that some care is required. Wheels are something we normally just ignore (until a tire goes flat), but wire wheels do...

    TR4/4A Re: Wire wheel question

Amen! My previous TR3A had wire wheels when we bought it (birthday present from my late wife, back in 1983 or so). Not long after, I had to replace the tube on the right rear wheel. Noticed the...

TR2/3/3A Re: I have a doubt about the gearbox

Doesn't seem like a problem to me.

But I would still open it far enough to do some inspection, including pulling the countershaft out far enough to check the bearing surface under 1st gear. ...

    TR4/4A Re: Wire wheel question

Still have to use the wire wheel nuts. The regular nuts won't fit in the space between the wheel and adapter. The spacer does not change that, it only makes up for the studs being too long.

In case others have the same question, I think Dan got some great answers on the other forum. The repro from Rimmers seems like a winner to me.

    Re: Paperless!

Every brick and mortar bank I've dealt with is out of business today. And the big banks (the ones that swallow up all the little ones) treat me like feces. After Chase took over my last bank...

    Re: Paperless!

I've used several services over the years (originally had to pay a different bank $10/month for the privilege), and they've all offered the ability to do what I outlined. The vendors are only...

    Re: Paperless!

I use a different method, that doesn't match either of your descriptions, but seems like "automatic" to me. I tell the bank to mail a check for a fixed amount, to arrive on the 10th of every month...

    Benefit concert for Autism

I just found out about this; shame I have to miss it. The Greek is not my favorite venue by a long shot, but it would be worth it to see so many over-the-hill rockers on stage.

Re: Our County has just abandoned recycling.

Try using a knife to cut a folding "window" in the back of the package. Works for me. And the cardboard back is a lot less likely to cut you.

Yes, everywhere in the US is having recycling...

    Re: Call in the lawyers

Seems to me you should go back and insist on being recompensed for the value of the trees. They were your trees, now they aren't.

    Re: Paperless!

Ok, I'll bite. What are your "obvious" reasons? What's the problem with instructing your bank to mail a check every month? If you don't trust them, why do you give them your money?

TR2/3/3A Re: OD cover plate gasket sealer.

Graham, I think you may be thinking of the later IRS-style OD. The earlier units had a much larger accumulator piston (and stronger springs), with no tube involved. Just a short distance piece on the...

TR2/3/3A Re: Starter catches 50% of the time

Shouldn't be an issue here (as it is for later TR6). On a later TR3 through TR4A, the ring gear is bolted to the flywheel.

And before that, the starter tried to drive the gear further onto the...
