    Re: Rear Hub Nuts

If Steve and Lin recommend the Doman nuts, only Randy Forbes's is missing to make this a indisputable decision..... Since Randy's under the weather, I'm going with them.

    Re: Front shocks

I also recommend World Wide. I couldn't believe the improvements in ride and handling after having them rebuilt. Drove like a brand new car.

    Re: Rear Hub Nuts

Steve, do you have any idea how much performance gain I can expect with "drag race" lug nuts. Quicker off the line? Higher top end speed? No matter, at this price, it's worth a shot..

    Re: Rear Hub Nuts

Thank you Steve. I try all those sources.
  5. Re: engine stutter of rebuild BT7 engine (tri-carb) above 2500 rpm

I created a similar situation years ago when I over-oiled the OEM air filters after cleaning them. I somehow got enough oil on the wire mesh to restrict airflow and cause an over rich situation.

    Rear Hub Nuts

I am going to treat myself to new tyres, wheels, front and back hubs. I want to replace the studs on the front hubs and the nuts on the rear hubs in the process. The normal suppliers carry them but...

    Re: Randy Forbes

Randy, Best wishes for a speedy recovery. It's funny how we get to know those members of this forum that contribute so much and kind of expect they will always have the correct answer.

Re: HD8 drop test time in seconds

I'm guessing the speed of drop in this test is only to determine the consistency between both carbs. Once the masking tape is removed and springs reinstalled in the domes, those piston come down...
  9. Re: engine stutter of rebuild BT7 engine (tri-carb) above 2500 rpm

I had a similar issue a few years ago. It was a problem with the plastic right angle caps on the spark plug leads which attach to the plugs. The caps had an internal piece of carbon that broke down...
  10. Re: Trying to contact Pete Delaney 5 speed.

Derek, While that might be true, I think most everyone who has commented on changing to a 5-speed says it was a vast improvement. While I've certainly enjoyed my Healey for the past 56 years, I've...

    Re: Vented Battery

On my BT7, the trunk area is not really sealed. There are openings on both sides of the rear bulkhead that would acts as a vent from the trunk to the rear seat area. I was never sure why they left...

Re: Under boot and under bonnet paint?

Actually, now that I think about it, I think the base price was only $29.95, but I opted for the upgrades, painted door jams and wheels adding up to $39.95. What a big spender!! I ditched school...

Re: Under boot and under bonnet paint?

I'm pretty sure the old school metallic paint was a single coat application. They just put the metal flakes right in the color coat. I had an Earl Sheib $39.95 metallic dark blue paint job on my...

Re: DYI extension for clutch bleeding

Just a comment about the kit from oldphartz. I purchase one and when I tried to use a mighty vac to bleed the cylinder I discovered the fitting that the bleeder fits into becomes loose when the...

    Re: Leather Strap Chafing

That protective tape is pretty amazing. I've applied a 1" strip of it under the Tenex studs around the cockpit edge for protection from the tonneau cover and wrapped it around the bonnet and trunk...

Patrick, that's what I remember. The paper was quite stiff but that might of been from age.

    Re: Fuel tank straps

IIRC the original packing on the metal straps was more of a tan or brownish paper like material. Like a stiff cardboard. But semi water proof. And yes they were riveted but I don't know if they...

    Re: BJ8 Transmission front seal

I think your pick/puller is certainly a more elegant tool than I used so I'm sure it will be fine. Make sure you put some type of sealant around the outside of the seal before you install. I don't...

    Re: BJ8 Transmission front seal

If I remember, I think I just drilled a small hole in the surface of the seal and used a storng pick or small screw driver to pry it out. I wasn't difficult.

Not sure about a BJ8, but I replaced that seal on my BT7 without removing the bell housing. Fairly easy job.
