  1. Re: Post- Open Roads 2002: Tahoe to MD the long way

My wife and I were having breakfast in Ludlow on our honeymoon in 1981 (in my 67 Alfa GTV), when a Cessna 180 tail dragger, which had been parked in a gas station across the highway, taxied out and...

Re: Spun wheel bearing traced to gasket thickness

    John,
Did you happen to measure the thickness of the bearing rim? That would appear to be the culprit.

Re: Steering Peg in Steering Gearbox

    Stever,
There have been many threads here on steering: adjustment, overhaul, rebuilding vs new, types of lube, suppliers.

Suggest you search the archives and read everything on steering boxes...

    Re: Speedometer Repair Problem

I had a problem around 2003 where I'd had my speedo serviced by MOMA and ran it with a replacement cable from Moss. After a year on a trip it gave out after being jerky for a while. Evidently at that...

  7. Re: Resistor type vs non-resistor type spark plugs for 100-6

I ran my Pertronix I for years using stranded metal wires, plain caps and resistor-or-not plugs -- with never any problem (no radio).

They're incompatible with the Pertronix II and maybe...
  8. Re: Resistor type vs non-resistor type spark plugs for 100-6

Pertronix specs resistor wires; no mention of resistor plugs.

    Re: Gidget is For Sale

"Gidget", which might rhyme with "beat to something-or-other".

Having said that, that should count for provenance.

    Re: BN1 with H6 carbs : what setting ?

    Matt,
I've had good results with titanium or steel epoxy. That might work for attaching the boss.

Oversize shafts are a bad idea because you have to bore out all the hardware.

    Edit: oxy torch...

    Re: 100 throttle linkage--help needed

    Michael,
Search Google for "healey 100m throttle linkage" and click on "images". That should do it.

    Re: BN1 with H6 carbs : what setting ?

    Matt,
The Durafix rod shown above is in fact a braze - it melts at 700 degrees f. Far lower than the aluminum itself. This would work well for attaching the nice little boss you made. It would be...
  15. Re: Resistor type vs non-resistor type spark plugs for 100-6

Out of resistor wires, resistor caps or resistor plugs, you only need one.

Hadn't heard why Champions now considered better.

    Re: BN1 with H6 carbs : what setting ?

    Matt,
At the link above, Tom Bryant discusses wear on the shaft and how to drill a new shaft with the operating arms in the correct spot relative to the butterfly. The bushings may be worn as well,...

Re: Hide the Women and Children

The first pipe on each side is dark, therefore the rest are dummies. So that's phony too.

He should have figured out a way to cover the real wire wheels with basket wheel covers.
  21. Re: Rightway Heritage Trimming - Geoff Chrysler

    Lin,
Can you post a closeup of the end of this piping so we can see how it's made.

    Re: BN1 with H6 carbs : what setting ?

    Matt,
The thing is whether air leaks in or not. Not what the clearance is.

With the motor running, shoot some water or WD40 or window cleaner at the joint where the shaft enters the carb body. If...

Re: Harbor Freight jack stand recall

John - good to know, as there are eleventy-zillion pawl stands out there. Maybe they're all made by the same PRC outfit and that's why the tooling is worn out.

This is very interesting. Thank you for the info.

    Is there...

Re: Harbor Freight jack stand recall

Found no indication online of any recalls for any stands other than the HFs....
