Had enough money for drilled and slotted rotors but couldn't afford a new castellated nut and cotter pin?

    Re: BJ7/BJ8 exhaust systems

I've actually seen this car in the flesh about 20 years ago at a local car show. It is "unusual". At another show a couple of years ago I met a couple who knew the man trying to sell it. They told...

    Re: Bonnet Striker Pin Assembly

    Lin,

I've found it helps to get under the car and look up through the latching mechanism and try to center the cone from the striker pin in the hole on the latch. You may have to adjust the...

    Re: Ellis Island

I think many folks who search their ancestry hope for some famous person in their background, but most likely most will be disappointed. In my case, I found both my grandmothers had children out of...

    Re: Exhaust Manifold Flange Stud

My advice is to remove the entire exhaust manifold and take it to your local machine shop. They'll know how to remove it They may have to do an EDM (google it} removal, but it beats fighting it on...

    Re: Front Wheel Bearingsknow

FYI - Just got some SKF bearings for a BMW 320i. They were made in Brazil.

Re: Healey 100/4 from the Bahamas

Have you seen Terry O'Neil's book, "The Bahamas Speedweeks"? It contains listings of all the cars entered and drivers.

    Re: Exhaust leaks

I can't see it would cause any performance issues at all. There is, however, a danger to the driver from carbon monoxide leaks.

A good place to start is here: https://www.racingsportscars.com/ Search the Healey entries for the races you know it ran, you may get lucky. Good luck with your search.

    Re: Bad Kitty

I guess it would make sense to compare to an original V12 car:

It's really a pretty mild customization of the original, except for those wheels. I think that's what I find offputting.

Re: Front hub bearing grease repacking

You're right, I should know better. (Hangs his head in shame) Unless you packed the hub to the gunwales, the grease would probably just stick in a blob to the outside of the hub, not even being in...

Re: Front hub bearing grease repacking

It's an 82 BMW 320i. I misstated. The instructions were not in the workshop manual but from an online how-to. I agree, I don't think it does anything and may cause more trouble than help.

    Re: Cigar Lighter

I laughed at that spelling, too. That lighter knob is so unusual that I couldn't believe it when I saw it show up on the BaT car. Reminds me of a 1995 Z/28 I had that had a "CHECK GAGES" light. ...
