This seems a bit pricey but an example of one for sale if nothing else.

Yes Rick, Tom Householder is my “Doretti whisperer” and his help and advice has been invaluable.

    Hi RIck:

The car has been on the island since the 50s, after being sold new in Fla. I got it in 2016 from the 101 year old widow of the owner who brought it to Hawaii from Fla. in the late 50s. ...

Yes, every time I see John’s car I think it has to be one of the nicest around. That dark BRG is so British!

    TR2/3/3A » Re: Restoration of 1954 TR-2 Long Door

    Dick:

If you are going for the original shade, I have a S-T color sample book for the TR-2 with a TR2 BRG paint sample protected by a plastic coating. Happy to loan it.

The Roadster Factory invested in a better set of seat springs, and if you use new springs you should definitely check those out.

    TR2/3/3A » Re: Re-building 1954 TR-2 engine

Hey Dick - I am no good at the photo sharing thing, but no big deal about the later block. Cam bearings are a good thing, and with a low port head and H4 carbs, your engine will be absolutely period...

    TR2/3/3A » Re: Re-building 1954 TR-2 engine

Hey Dick - for your commission number, the engine number should be a few hundred above, due to engines being supplied for Dorettis and possibly other uses. The engine numbers began with TS and ended...

    TR2/3/3A » Re: Re-building 1954 TR-2 engine

As I mentioned in my earlier post on a similar thread, the early TR2 blocks did not have cam bearings at all - there was just a machined surface in the block. Then the bearings were added for later...

    TR2/3/3A » Re: Re-assembling 1954 TR-2 Engine

If the motor is original then I don't think it had cam bearings? The early motors didn't, as identified by the absence of cam bearing retainer screws on the distributes side of the block.

    TR2/3/3A » Re: exhaust

What is the difference between a resonator and a muffler? Is the resonator hollow? The early TR2 only had the one short 18 inch "muffler", and then later cars were fitted with two longer ones. Was...

    TR2/3/3A » Re: TR2 color questions

You can research the original body color and fitments with a heritage certificate. It costs a bit of money but good to have! For your car, I don' think red was an original option (white was).

    TR2/3/3A » Re: Light Bar

There is a special badge bar for the TR2 that fits in the recessed front opening and requires holes to be drilled, which is a bit of a leap. I got one and used it for a bit, but then decided I liked...

  23. General TR » Re: Timely memory of a time capsule left in my 3A

Amazingly enough, lots and lots of TR2s and TR3s were shipped new to Hawaii, including many of the earliest run of 53 cars. My TR2 was shipped new to Hawaii in 54 and has never left this small...
