    Very good idea. I changed mine into an electrical switch that would power a wiper pump. The switch still looks original.

    I don't think the VIN number is stamped on a 100 6 anywhere but on the VIN plate . Which is NOT on the firewall. It is held on by two screws, easy to remove.

    The spring should be steel, I removed the starter and fished in the hole with a magnet. Got all the loose parts and put it back together. But I was lucky, no damage to the case.

    wound glue. use super glue. Lasts longer than new skin or any of the plastic skin products. As others have said, Every car I have worked on has my blood on it.
