Re: MGTF Rear Fender Stone Guards

Gravel roads in Australia? Healeys in South Africa had extra shocks for rough roads.

  6. Re: BJ8 Phase 1 left turn signal (driver side)

Sounds like a wire to the front left is disconnected. That makes the rear flash quickly to let you know the front bulb is burned out. Since you changed the bulb, the next thing to check is a break...

Re: BJ7 HS6 Carb Baseline Setting

I had that at one time. A small piece of debris was holding a throttle plate open.

    Re: BJ8 Frame Rust Options?

If anyone makes that frame section, it would be Kilmartin, http://www.kas-kilmartin.com.au/Austin%20Healey.htm.

What gives me pause is that other frame parts are more known for rust-through. If...
  10. Re: BN6: Shock absorbers do not fit after renewing the link arms

    Volker,

There should be a distance tube, Moss#725-130, between the two ears on the axle. The upper stud goes through it. Tightening the nut while holding the hex section on the stud should pull...

Saw regular for $2.99 Friday at the corner 7-11. That's low for us.

    Re: Too many tools?

I've found that the best way to find that tool you've been looking for is to buy another one. Then the lost tool magically shows up.
  14. Re: 6 Blade cooling fan for 64 BJ8, advice?

I have one of the original Texas Coolers. I have also put a partial shroud around it.
  15. Re: Healey assembly line - engine installation

The body number is stamped on one of the hood hinges, and the hood latch as well as the batch/body plate so they can reunite the correct hood with the body.

    Re: Steering not right

When I tackled my steering box years ago, the bearings were bad. The inner race on the worm was pitted and I had a machine shop cut it down and reshape it since new worms were not readily available....

Re: fan belt change on BJ8

Getting the old belt off is easy - just cut it. Getting a new one on is the hard part.
  19. Re: Healey assembly line - engine installation

My guess is that it moves crane attachment point front and back to tilt the engine. The wheel probably rotates a screw inside the beam. Mine does that, except I have a crank instead of a wheel.

  23. Re: Things to Do While You are Sheltering in Place

I saw Fangio doing a demonstration drive in the W196 at the Monterey Historics, before it became the Rolex Reunion. There was a 500SL camera car leading him. We could tell he was annoyed that the...

    Re: Healey ergonomics question

I'm 6' and fit just fine. It's a bit "ungainly" getting in and out, especially with the sidecurtains in place. I've made a couple of tweaks to raise the front edge of the seat about 1/4" for better...
