    TV "car guys"

Just watched some guy discover to his apparent surprise it's possible to drive a "sports car" (Miata in this case) in winter conditions. We drove MGB's year 'round, beginning from the late '60's, out...

  3. Re: Things to Do While You are Sheltering in Place

Watch for a quick clip of a SAR mission, an HH-53 "Jolly Green Giant" and a thin guy in a flight suit backing up to the port side landing gear with a Nikon up to his face, trying to get out of frame...
  4. Re: Things to Do While You are Sheltering in Place

In high school, I had two years with Latin-1. Similarly, saw no practical use for it in real life, had no intention to become a clinician. With math, algebra, geometry and the final semester...

    Re: Too many tools?

"Too many tools"?? I don't understand that at all. But doing a task to a higher standard rather than a simply acceptable one is perfectly understandable. A few years ago when doing some drywall work...

    Ford's faux pas

Bill Ford just declared the company helped win WW-II by cranking out loads of B-52's... Oops.

Have ya tried a monopod? Whatever the Bogen #3016 is replaced with.

  10. Re: A chance encounter in the South China Sea

Funny, that. My dad met his cousin on the Normandy shore the day after D-Day, same scenario but sadly no photo. They didn't see one another again until back home.

    Re: Envirosafe R134a replacement refrigerant

Well, I'm half-convinced... I'll try it in the neighbor's car first. :smirk:
  12. Re: A chance encounter in the South China Sea

I've long maintained the "Six Degrees" thing is a lot less than that, too many chance encounters only one or two individuals apart.

Re: You've got to know when to fold em'

My Old Man was a fan, he'd have Rodgers, Lightfoot or Kristofferson albums going regularly. Rodgers has left a true legacy with his contribution.

Re: Grampa, what did you do during...

I wondered if there was a YouTube vid out there somewhere demonstrating how to make breathing masks with TP. Covid is an UPPER RESPIRATORY bug. Not a G.I. one. People are such gullible idiots.

    Re: Envirosafe R134a replacement refrigerant

    :iagree:

R-12 was bad enough if exposed to fire/flame, 134a is certainly more benign. Flourine/carbon/hydrogen is certainly less likely to dramatically flash off if exposed to fire/flame...

Re: This does not look good for our LBC.

 Yeah, that too. After a couple days of wrenching on the neighbor's car (see my "skill-set" post), crawling up into the engine compartment, then on my back under it, up-down-up-down... legs...

 Good on ya! I burn thru a five-pound bag fairly quick here, started making quiches and some fruit pies, lots of pasta. Would love to have found a sale like that. And the "Nothing to Do"...

    Re: Envirosafe R134a replacement refrigerant

"Take precautionary measures against static discharge." !?!?

That's reason enough to dissuade me from trying it.

    Re: Envirosafe R134a replacement refrigerant

    Paul's the guinea pig!

I'll be curious as to the comparison with 134a. Any other changes needed? Evap valve or a lubricant? Puzzling is the "no evacuation" thing.

    Re: Slight reschedule

Virus or not, this li'l duck would never volunteer to be confined on a "cruise ship" with hundreds of strangers for any reason. The whole "cruise" thing is just weird to me.
