    Re: Ray's rods

Since you are resizing anyway, can you mix-n-match ends to get close to balanced first or will that mess up the bolt holes?

Re: FLEX A FORM FIBERGLASS LEAF SPRINGS

Even multiple spring packs fail from time to time. Usually at the highest shear point... right at the mounting eye. Since the spring pack at this point is just one leaf... Don't see why a mono-leaf...

Thanks, seems all I can find is head casting numbers too! It is not perhaps a big deal but I get curious, ya know?

    Block casting numbers

Right then. I'm about to rebuild a 3-main 1800 but the engine has been "worked over" before. Out of curiosity, can anyone tell me if the casting numbers on the block have any relevance to the...

Re: Anyone else have a Magnette?

Cool. Steve - I had a chance at a YA a few years back and wish I'd picked it up... It was a complete basket case without any sign of an interior but...

    Re: More window seal

Funny, my '67 has split rivets there. I thought that was a swell idea. They look like those brads for holding paperwork together but small and less springy.

    Re: lightweight flywheel-do or don't

I got my quaife from a fella running an Elva Courier... He said it made him nervous in high speed sweepers but I've had no issues whatsoever. Perhaps he didn't have it well set up, I dunno.
    Yeah, I...

    Anyone else have a Magnette?

Just wondering. Finally going to do real work on my '54 and was looking to pick brains.
I'm going to have to do rather extensive "freshening" including an MGB engine, 3.909:1 r&p, refinish dash,...

MGB Re: Convertible top Installation MGB

One word of caution... Do not be tempted to stretch it drum tight as the first sign of cold weather and it will split! Now, how would I know this...?

    Which?
With no one touching the ignition and key in off position grasp the dizzy (distributor) and try to turn it one way or the other. If it moves, you have found the source of frustration... it's...

    Re: Driveshaft/u-joint questions

I tried and tried to replace a u-joint once... I learned I stank at it and always take them to a driveline shop. They are nearly always able to replace anything wonky, have the experience to tell if...

    Re: I've Not....

I've had luck insticking the pump at speed by tuning the ignition on and off a few times (hardly a technique for the faint of heart... or intelligent).
Personally, I've not been in the garage for...

Re: Modern pistons for a 3-main B-series engine

OK, so, is the consensus that ALL new pistons are of a new design (including 3-main units)? Perhaps I'm showing my ignorance but are the 3-main pistons actually different from the 5-main units other...

Re: ROLL CALL .......Who Races What ?

'67 MGB roadster in auto-x a couple years back... DSP in SCCA. Retired that one (rust) and looking to build the '72 MGB roadster into an SCCA production racer (someday).

    Re: lightweight flywheel-do or don't

Scattershields are avilable but a scatter blanket (typically Kevlar/aramid blend) is easier to install and much lighter! Try drag racing outlets (like Summit) for products.

Re: Modern pistons for a 3-main B-series engine

Ja, Arias, Keith Black, Ross, etc. will all do that, I was hoping someone has experience with "off the shelf" stuff that wasn't cast in India from the same molds used since I was born.
