Elliot - want to come work on my chimney leak?

I've been troubleshooting that and doing some minor roof repair. Also fixed a couple loose hinges on cabinets, repaired an old bread machine, and...

    Re: Hello from New Jersey

Upland - welcome to BCF. For years I'd searched for an MGA, but never found "the right one". My addiction started back in high school, when my parents got me a 1955 Jaguar Mk VII. They figured if...
  3. Re: This just came up from the You Tube rabbit hole.

Yep, sometimes I've heard groups where I've thought they're not all musicians myself. :jester:

Great video of the Fireworks music with old-style instruments. Thanks Trevor. One big difference...

Here in eastern Connecticut (where the roads now are nearly empty even on work days), regular gas runs from 1.99 to 2.39.

    Re: TV "car guys"

One of my young interns at Sturbridge wanted to drive my old TR3. We went out to the parking lot, and I told him "remember, this is an old car that doesn't have power brakes."

    Intern said "What...
  8. Re: This just came up from the You Tube rabbit hole.

David - if you want to hear "natural", check out this clip. This is likely what horns and trumpets sounded like 300 and 400 years ago, when there was no "standard tuning" and ears weren't looking...

Looks like she's playing a modern "baroque trumpet" (17th century). You played only with the natural harmonics, but had one, two, or three holes to change the harmonic base. Piston and rotary...

    La música norteña

Thousands of years ago I was a teacher in south Texas. Some of my students had their own band (a conjunto), called Las rancheritas, which performed folk music of northern Mexico all over the Valley...

    Contagion - in 1910

Amazing how today's emphasis on social distancing - or lack thereof - is reflected in this song from 1910.
