Re: Will life ever be the same? NOPE

We leave for CT tomorrow. Hope to make it stopping only one night. What my poor body will feel like is another matter. We have food and drink, rubber gloves for gas stops, masks for indoor and as for...
  2. Re: So what does a restoration really cost these days?

Costs have increased significantly since I restored an MG TD back in 1973. A year or two ago, I posted a comparison between what I paid and what those parts are selling for now - if they're even...
  3. Re: Resistor type vs non-resistor type spark plugs for 100-6

Worrying about spark plugs is like today's golfer who bought a new $500 driver with movable weights. I can promise you that with the first shot that goes into the woods, he'll be worrying about the...

Re: Will life ever be the same? NOPE

Very dismayed to see a group of people - none wearing masks - milling around the entrance to a seafood restaurant in Sarasota literally cheek to cheek. My wife refused to go in to order dinner. We...

Re: World War 2--would I have served honorably?

I had a good friend who flew off a carrier in WW11. Said it was the scariest thing he ever did. And after the War, he was a test pilot.

    TR2/3/3A Re: Dash Pot Oil

Leave the oil out one time and see how bad it runs.
20 or 30 weight is fine.

Re: Will life ever be the same? NOPE

Two of my friends are gone from it. Both older; one healthy, one fragile. Didn't matter - both gone. The healthy one just got engaged to a very rich widow after his wife died a couple of years ago....
  9. TR6 Re: TR6 fuel pump question - glass bowl pump correct?

I Googled the question. Apparently there was (is) a glass bowl fuel pump for TR2, TR3 and TR4. Whether this can be made to fit and work on a TR6 is a question of try and see. You may have discovered...
  10. TR6 Re: TR6 fuel pump question - glass bowl pump correct?

Never seen a TR6 fuel pump with a glass bowl. Has anyone else?

    Re: Jack Stand Recall

I have four stands, all bought years ago. Two are orange but the movable part has a flatter top, not V-shaped. The other two are blue and of a different design. I don't use them.

    Re: Mystery Lexus??

I never doubted you - but that "Lexus" emblem had me fooled. I guess that was the point.
It was just a customized Stinger - like my 1952 Ford with a Pontiac grille.

TR2/3/3A Re: Frozen Steering Wheel (Adjustable)

Be careful with acetone. Powerful stuff. use in a well ventilated place and don't spill it on a painted surface.

    Re: Mystery Lexus??

More info on the Kia/Lexus. It seems Kia has alternate" logos and emblems for those who are ashamed of driving a lowly Kia - even if it's a Stinger, and they created a Lexus-looking logo that owners...
  15. Re: Getting young people involved in the Car Hobby

Actually the first time I "drove" a car was when I was about 5 years old. My dad let me sit on his lap and steer while we drove up Haig Ave. and I turned the wheel into Crestview Ave. and our 1936...
  16. Re: Long since fed up, but this is beyond the pale....

All it takes is one "Typhoid Mary" to infect many others.
I'm in good shape but I'm in my 80s and if I catch this thing, I'm probably a goner.

Re: It's a jungle out there!

Neighbors reported a bear in their yards one block from where I live. Pictures were supplied. Looks like a young male searching for his own territory. Got to be careful when I put up my bird feeder.

TR2/3/3A Re: Help! No start! Need input from you guys.

I repeat the age old mantra - if its got gas and its got spark and if they both arrive at about the same time , its got to run. If you assembled the points correctly as Poolboy pointed out (most...
  19. TR6 Re: Anyone add Exhaust tips to standard exhaust

Ditto here. Been on there for 20 years and kept exhaust gases off the bumper. We used to call them echo cans.

Re: Tonight's job - sewing machines.

When we were first married, we bought a sewing machine with its own table. You flipped the top upside down and the machine was there to work. It was never used. Still sits in my finished basement.

    Re: V-E Day - May 8, 1945

    Re: Chain Saw Thoughts/Ideas?

    1. I borrowed an electric chainsaw some years ago. It broke on the first try. Too lightweight.

    FIat 500

A little blue sedan flew through an intersection and I gave chase to see what it was. It had a few slits in the rear lid so I knew it was rear engined. It was immaculate - like it came from the...
