Re: Started adapting the datsun gearbox today

I've been looking at Speedhut gauges for years. I didn't know how to get the graphics, after seeing what can be done (yours?) I learned how. In the end I decided to get mine from BUGEYEGUY.com as I...

Re: Started adapting the datsun gearbox today

As far as adjusting the height of the bracket goes, I remember Paul being in a tizzy because his supplier of Kindorf strut no longer carried it. Unistrut was nearly microscopically larger (less than...

Re: Started adapting the datsun gearbox today

Oh man, ... put the speedo cable on before you put the "power unit" in the car. It's not that it can't be done, but save yourself an hour of frustration and do it the easy way. .. Here's another tip....

Re: 948 convert to 1275 info

Smooth case trannys don't mate to 1275s. Other than that everything fits up. .. Oh, tach. No more generator drive tach. You'll need a later one.

Re: Started adapting the datsun gearbox today

Using the later gaiter ditches the can. Have a look at the moss catalogue pictures and you'll see. It's probably the easiest solution. And, YES throwing the broomstick up the tunnel at the same time...

Re: Started adapting the datsun gearbox today

I watched/helped Paul A do the broomstick trick on my conversion. He spear tossed the handle into the tunnel. It took a few tries as it's a timing thing, getting the U-joint to catch the stick at...

Re: Bugeye (style) gauges in a Box Sprite?

Update. I decided to go with the gauges from Bugeye Guy. Also changing to positive ground, installing Genernator, and redoing dash crinkle finish. I have to change the Crane ignition to a negative...

Re: Bugeye (style) gauges in a Box Sprite?

Here's what I came up with from Speed Hut. I picked a different logo. But if the ones from Bug Eye Guy fit, I'll probably go that way.

I don't see a way to add the charging light to the tach.....

I have been looking at the SpeedHut gauges for years but didn't know that one could get them customized beyond their menu system. How did you do that? Did you have to call them? did you send a...

    Re: Sprite Petronix Electronic Ignition

If I recall correctly I used Bosch plug wires. Some sets for VWs (bug) have right angle ends. ..

I found it's better to get a spare dizzy and set it up with points/condensor and carry that. Much...

    Re: Sprite Petronix Electronic Ignition

Wise choice.. either that or carry a 2nd pertronix for when the first one fails.

I went to a CRANE unit over 10 years ago after my pertronix failed. I admit the failure to be my fault. I installed...

Re: Pertronix Ignitor: reliability & suitability

Re: Best lube for a Datsun gearbox??

I've had my Crane for well over 10 years without a hiccup. If you go with Pertronix, buy two, one for a spare, or keep a dizzy with points already set in the boot.

    YMMV
