    Well, Michael, you might try a piece of shrink-tubing and a short piece of dowel, shrink this over the bulb and then see if you can press the bulb down and twist it.

    Is there a noticeable sound difference between the mild steel and Stainless muffler systems on a Healey?--

    -YES there is : mild steel has a lower resonant frequency.

    In some cases the baffels inside have losened in the muffler , some success at quieting was to install SS clamps over the outside of the mufflet at three equally spaced distances.

    I use plain pld RTV on mine works a charm.

    As a matter of fact the flex jont on one of my pipes got damaged somehow , so I simply sealed that hole with RTV.

    You will have a problem...
