    Up 4-8-8-4

Known as the "Big Boy" largest operational steam locomotive in the world. I got a chance to see it yesterday, quite impressive, if you have a device with good sound turn the volume up....
  4. Re: Cost to Rebuild a Healey 3000 Engine (And Recommendations About Who to Do It)

Although several years ago and a 100, I redid my engine for about $2.5k. That included .060" over pistons sourced from Europe, a new oil pump, a an updated lip type seal on the rear main that...

    Re: 1275 EN40 Crank

Looks like .030" and .040" rod bearings are pretty common, so it doesn't sound like the crank is toast.

    Re: 1500 battery cable colors

Tell you buddies at AutoZone about the + and - symbols on the battery, I know sometimes hard to see, but still. British cars are quirky, but I don't imagine BL was unconventional with their battery...

Re: Trying to find an accurate tyre pressure gauge

I understand the hang ups thing, but still would say my bigger concern would be consistency, same reading on multiple attempts even if a pound or two off, so that even if your two fronts are at 30...

    TR5/TR250 Re: Steering Self Center

It is the same as 4A and 6, so yeah, rack and piniond and different than TR2-4. But yeah, I think the wide wheels and tires make a difference. I generally like the feel of an old sports car on...

Re: I fear for the future of the republic...

No, I don't remember tongue depressors (?) as learning tools in the 60s when I was in grade school.

    TR5/TR250 Re: Steering Self Center

Thanks, I didn't touch the rack other than lubing it when I redid the car so worth checking out. Greg

I dont know if it is what they are teaching in school, or that everybody has devices at hand so they dont need to learn how to do numbers in their head, or lots more credit card or debit transactions...

    TR5/TR250 Steering Self Center

My TR250 has very weak to no return or self center for the steering. Nevertheless it tracks straight and things seem to be fine with the front suspension and steering other than that.

    I have...

TR6 Re: Engine dies slow left turn.

This will probably be of no help, but nevertheless an amusing story about a similar situation. My brother bought a Sprite several years ago that would die turning one direction if he took a corner...

Re: MAD Magazine Ending After 67 Years

Red it at about the same age, 10-12, remember Spy v. Spy, cartoon spoofs of movies, lyric spoofs of contemporary songs, Alfred E. Neumann. I also didn't realize it was still around, haven't seen one...

General Tech Brake Booster Happy Camper

I posted a while back about how I had purchased a brake booster and it made an audible hissing or sucking noise when I hit the brakes. I also felt the boost, already modest on these cars, wasn't up...

TR6 Re: Air vent rod connection

Hello Pieman, what kind of trouble. The rod connects to the vent on top and a lever, fulcrum thing under the dash, I think the rod is held in place by push on fasteners which you should be able to...

The Sky video originally mentioned, I swear it was in the soundtrack to an (80s?) movie. I thought maybe Highlander, but that didn't check out.

TR6 Re: More fun with Lucas

agree with poolboy, if you use LEDs you may have comparability issues with your flasher. All can be made to work, but trying filament bulbs would give a better idea of whether the system is working...

    Re: Milky Way over Cabazon

That is a fantastic shot. I remember seeing the milky way in medium sized (about 140,000) town on moonless nights as a kid in the 70s.

Not nearly as easy now. However I also remember working...

    Re: Chrome or painted wheels

Count me in the 72 spokes look too busy, 48 spokes look and probably are, too spindly and weak crowd. Chrome or painted is a matter of taste. I have seen broken spokes on 60 spoke wheels on Healey...
