    Re: Cigar Lighter

That is the choke pull, which occupies a hole the previous owner drilled for something long forgotten. It just happened to line up perfectly with the choke lever on the Holley four-barrel. The...

    Re: Cigar Lighter

The car did have an OD until I put the V8 in it, now it just has a 5 speed. The liter was installed between the screen washer and grab handle.

    Cigar Lighter

Saw this cigar lighter installed on a BT7 offered on BaT today:

Odd thing is, my BJ7 came from the cigar-smoking original owner with the exact same lighter with the word "LITER" on...

Re: 1963 Sebring Big Healey 57 FAC

I had an unlined hardtop in my high school bugeye. Very noisy inside. Might be a good application for the Lizard Skin sound deadening.

I think you'd be looking for an anti-vibration material for the doors, something like this: https://designengineering.com/boom-mat-vibration-damping-material/ I believe the "thunk" comes from the...

    Re: Fate of replicas

I think some of these replicas existed because the owners of the original rights to the cars went out of business or were too small to spend the money to hire lawyers to chase down the replica...

    Re: Towards better brake performance....

    Mike,

I mentioned bedding-in up above using this procedure: https://www.zeckhausen.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=6446_6443 The idea of not using the brakes before the final stop is to prevent...

    Re: Fate of replicas

Shelby already had a long-term battle with the Cobra replica people: https://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/22/shelby-loses-lawsuit-against-factory-five-racing/ Mercedes has had a 300 SL reproduction...

Re: 71 TVR Vixen V8 Conversion

The Tremec is a Ford Motorsport T5Z that I bought new. When I set the motor and transmission in the car, I placed it so the shift lever would come out of the original location in the tunnel. ...

Re: 71 TVR Vixen V8 Conversion

That's some nice header fabrication. I ended up with some Sunbeam Tiger manifolds to get enough clearance in my Healey. I'm sure you'll see a big horsepower gain over those log manifolds.

    Re: Sound proofing recommendations

You might take a look at Lizard Skin Sound Control: http://www.buzzweld.co.uk/lizardskin-sound-control-pack.html Probably add less weight than some of the conventional insulation materials.

Re: How to Restore a Bugeye in an Hour

    Kurt,

No, I didn't make it. Kind of a long haul out there from Massachusetts, although a few of our Austin-Healey Club of New England members did make it out.

    Re: Towards better brake performance....

I suspect the ability for the rear brakes to lock up has more to do with weight transfer removing the weight from the rear tires rather than the efficacy of the rear brakes. Chris Dimmock asked on...

Nice ad, John. When I had my bugeye in high school, I'd have to walk through the showroom of the local BMC dealer to get to the parts department to keep the poor thing on the road. There sat a new...
